Notice: Necrology Shorts accepts submissions by email ONLY!

Fiction

Necrology Shorts is looking for horror, science fiction, and fantasy stories that have a dark, deathly ring. We want to see work built upon the masters, such as H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, and Stephen King. Don’t repeat their work, expand upon it. We prefer character-oriented stories.

Length: While we don’t have a maximum length for fiction we do require a minimum of 2000 words for fiction submissions.

Poetry

Poetry should follow the same guidelines as fiction. Poetry can be in any form and unlimited in length. Up to five poems may be submitted at one time. Submit poetry all in one attachment. Put title and author’s name at the beginning of each poem.

Artwork

Cartoons should have a humorous outlook but still maintain relation to the website content.  Artwork should have a dark, sci-fi, or fantasy style/theme. Submit artwork and cartoons as jpg, gif, or Photoshop format.

Photo Guidelines

Photos should be in jpg, gif, or Photoshop format. Photos should be under 10 MB. Please only submit 5 photos maximum at a time.

Book & Movie Reviews

Necrology Shorts is looking for book and movie reviews.  Reviews can be on the latest books and movies or older work. Length 1000-2000 words.

Writing Tips

Do you love writing? Necrology Shorts also accepts pieces dedicated to helping authors better improve their writing skills. The craft of writing is a life long educational experience. If you have tips for new writers we would love to hear them. We do not offer payment for Writing Tips.

Author and Artists Rights

Authors and Artists retain all rights to their work. By submitting work to Necrology Shorts you give permission for Necrology Shorts to post work to the website permanently.  You are free to submit your work to other publications.

Submission Format

Formats accepted: MS Word, PDF, txt, jpg, gif, Photoshop. If you do not submit your work in these formats your work will not be reviewed or added to Necrology Shorts.

Payment

Necrology Shorts is not currently offering payment, this will be changing in the months to come. We will also be offering contests in the months to come, plus other events to win cash prizes and much more. Payment offers for accepted work are non-negotiable. Payment is normally done by Paypal, unless author request paper check.

How your work will be listed

All submitted works published will be listed under the author’s very own category. Each work will be listed under their category as a separate page.
